You don't have to stay broken

"We don't have to agree on anything to be kind to one another."

It is still the hardest job to continue to stay who you are while people keep pulling you down or atleast don't give up on trying to change you
Oh humans... people feel the way they feel for a reason and they think the way they think for a reason
Empaths will get affected by everything you say to them because words hurt.

If only someone could take away the pain and burden of knowing how strongly someone close in your life disagrees with your decision
Life is ... about being happy apparently
But at the cost of?
So, based on your assumptions that you'd be happy in the future, you jump into the unknown?

It's all about choices.

Why is it that human contact is in fact so necessary, that without it, there's lack of validation and a sense of incompleteness, with regard to the purpose of existence?

Trust.
What is it?
You trust your partner to love you as much as you love him/her with all your heart and never hurt you or break you knowing he/she has the power to.

When you keep your phone away for a day,
Digital detox is really important when we're living in a world dominated by technology!

Money.
It's important to you when you don't have enough of it. It's not as important to you when you have enough of it (exceptions are the self-made people). And I guess that's pretty much applicable to anything in life.

"Psychology says, people who hide their feelings usually care the most."

A human's emotions coming out on another person. Once in a while is one thing, every time is another. Marriage surely isn't for everybody. In the words of a wise woman, an excellent dessert maker, "marriage is compromise." And that's the thing, what if one can't keep doing that?

Why is it that the society doesn't allow/permit a girl to live with her parents for life, but a son can and in fact is expected to, even if/when he doesn't want/wish to?

The one thing I handle in the worst way: uncertainty ahead
But that's the thing
You just need to plunge into the unknown to find out for yourself what is out there
Even if it means taking the big decisions in life
You won't know the answer to your 'what if' if you don't

People will take you for granted, they will check your patience level
No matter what on earth you do for them or anyone who means the world to them
They will take advantage of your adjusting and giving nature till the point that you don't speak up about being hurt/affected by their words/actions
These are the opposite of humble.

One of the worst feelings in life is not knowing why you've come so far
It's a sad, sad state when you don't have an answer to your 'why' with regard to the path you've been on for so long or rather fought for
...and you begin to doubt yourself. Don't ever let yourself do that!

Sarson ka saag made by my mother is probably one of the finest creations that I've had the privilege of tasting almost every year during winters...

How is a person expected to take a plunge in life and be at one's best at the same time?

That satisfying feeling when you give bones to the stray dogs outside your house on a late dinner night, especially when you didn't eat yourself :)

Why don't people question their sons as much as they question their daughters?

There is no space left for certain emotions in some people's lives
They've had that much to deal with, that they don't know what it's like to show that extra concern towards themselves or even for a person they love dearly
It's true.

Indians giving bouquets to each other on an occasion: waste of money and the flowers!
(keeping the exceptions aside)
The next day, you'll see the flowers in the dustbin. Very few actually make the effort to take the flowers out of the plastic, and probably put them in a vase with water even for a day.

And the Indian festivals that lead to people buying flowers worth hundreds of rupees, I mean, come on, you can make someone's life better with that much money. Because even if you do use those flowers to decorate your homes for a day, the next day, those flowers are going to be in the bin only. But no, no, why should we think that much, when what's more important is decorating and clicking pictures of those flowers on the ground, and getting that validated by people you don't really care about. The people selling flowers in temples fall under a different category all together. That's their bread and butter. The ones who show up only and specifically during festivals have other jobs and means of earning.

When you don't need another person (not even your best friend) to tell you to look at the bright side or think of how blessed you are
Because it's not that you've forgotten even for a second (all the more because you're one to remind others around you to stay thankful), but you just wanted to be heard without any reason for a moment
I guess that's the difference between a human and a diary/dog, there is no response from the other end especially in terms of rationalisation in the case of the latter

"Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children."

Who'd want to be taunted for crying?
Yes, in some parts of this strange world... even crying is a taboo!

Work. You have to work hard. For yourself. For the point you're trying to prove to the most important people in your life that you can survive, all by yourself.

People living in a parallel universe...

You choose who you are.
Whether you choose to be at a certain place at a certain time, or with people who expected their presence to matter to you...matter to you more than your presence elsewhere.

There's something called 'personal touch' when it comes to taking care of your elders
The same action can be performed by a helper, but you doing it adds care to it in a way that no one else can fill that missing gap of care/affection

Life, especially the serious days of it, the ones we add seriousness to with all the problems in our head... Laugh it out. This is something I've finally started to implement. Something I learnt from an important person in my life.

You choose who you could be.

Different people get a high from different things ~
Saving lives as a doctor
Working for an ngo and changing lives
Proving others wrong around you
Yelling at domestic helpers/employees
Scolding someone younger to you
Making others feel bad for you
Alcohol
Inflicting pain on another person
Skydiving
Making a stranger happy
It's a matter of being in control with your own state of mind!

When it so happens that due to some of your own actions, your friends withdrew, without you realising what you said/did, and by the time you become aware of it, it's been a while, you must use all that time and energy you would've used on building a relationship further, towards building your career/educating yourself and becoming more aware of how you can progress in an area that will eventually help you in the future.

"You can meet someone tomorrow who has better intentions for you than someone you've known for years, time means nothing, character does."

Human beings hurt each other the most!

The difference between making a video and a scrapbook...for your mother
She wouldn't need battery in her phone to see it, or space to see/find it!
She can touch the book and go through it whenever she feels like without straining her eyes with the brightness of the screen in the middle of the night..

If the luxuries are basic necessities for you (from the perspective of a layman), then you will never be content in life, because the variety is endless, and so your thirst to own/possess more will never die...

"Your complete inability to ever hide a single thing you felt" - That's me!
Me Before You ~ What a wonderful movie :')
Sometimes in life, the most beautiful things happen to people who think life won't be nice to them.
Life ~ it asks you to live it to the fullest. It expects you to consider it your duty to live it to the best of your abilities, for we all get one chance.
But then again, movies are movies for a reason.

It must be the first time that I've stopped believing that even parts of a movie can happen to one in reality
It's a lie, a big lie
No one will ever care for you like that, even the person who loves you the most.

The Best of Me ~ another movie that made me smile and made me question universe's ways of working and how destiny does say hello to you even if you try and run away from it. Loved it.

Some people's lives are only about hairstyles, makeup, dresses and parties ~ it's all about appearance

An important learning for myself,
If a person is of a very different nature than yours, and you just cannot understand or cannot relate with... Don't zone out or show it on your face
You don't know why that person is that way (upbringing, circumstances, apathetic by nature)

"People enter our lives for many reasons
Sometimes we are destined to help them on their journey
Sometimes they are there to help us grow
Sometimes they come to lead us to someone else
Sometimes they are there to show us what we do not want
Sometimes they come to remind us how beautiful we are
Sometimes they are there to teach us a lesson
Sometimes they come to show us how to love again
People don't always stay and sometimes it hurts
Just remember, everything happens for a reason...
Whether they stay or go...
...we will take a piece of them with us forever."

The thing is, when you don't wish to learn about some people's lives, you really shouldn't be made to. It only makes you hate it all.

What makes people think that money gives them power over others who don't have as much as them?
It's beyond me.
Insensitivity amongst the rich and educated is prevalent.
Thank goodness for people like J.K. Rowling and Melinda Gates.

I miss Bombay.
The feel that city gives you when you're there.

We've all read this somewhere or the other, but I'm going to repeat it here, because I really don't think it's said enough:
Money can not buy/teach you or your child: how to speak to someone, manners, behavioural ethics, basic etiquettes, and kindness!
The list can certainly be longer but I'll stop at that. Inherited wealth is the worst. It makes you look down upon people and you'll never even admit that, that has become a part of who you are. You're far from empathy. A wise friend once said to me, 'Garima, self made men aren't rich, they weren't born with it, they earned every penny themselves and so they're rich not in terms of money but in terms of their experiences, it's the next generation who's rich.'

Another thing is,
Common sense is not common in common people!
Goodness, we've all been blessed with a brain (okay, there are four different kinds apparently) and the same thinking capacity, but, humans just don't seem to want to use their heads enough. They call it overthinking when a person attempts to rationalise.

Your opinions start to matter less the day you have gone against one's decision and put your foot down.

Indian railway station - 9 pm - foggy - people stare because they believe it's their right and because it's the right thing to do - you want to go buy a packet of chips for yourself and for the driver who has come to drop you and a couple of more people - the first thought that crosses your mind as a female is - whether or not you should even walk by yourself to a counter that's at quite a distance - why - because that's how your country has always made you feel when you're out alone anywhere even for a minute!

The problem with most rich Indians is, they will look down upon anyone who A. earns less in general B. earns lesser than them C. cannot do anything for them D. whose colour doesn't appeal to their eyes E. whose job doesn't appeal to them
Ofcourse, there'd be exceptions to the above, but frankly, I can't stand the fact that people actually get to behave like that and get to convey as if they have some sort of power over another person, just because they think they do.

When a lady (your mother's age), talks confidently about how she didn't let her son pursue the course he wanted to, and made him stick to the realistic options/career path in life..
shows exactly what's wrong in the thought process of parents even today, when they don't see how not allowing their child to pursue a career of his/her own choice (a part of his/her passion) lead their children to only believe that they wouldn't have been able to pull it off/make a living with the same...

Before the Flood - so important for everyone to watch!!

And,
In the words of Jim Carrey,

"My father could have been a great comedian, but he didn't believe that that was possible for him, and so he made a conservative choice. Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant. When I was 12 years old, he was let go from that safe job, and our family had to do whatever we could to survive. I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which was that you can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.
How will you serve the world?
What do they need that your talent can provide?
That's all you have to figure out.
As someone who's done what you're about to go and do, I can tell you from experience,
the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.
Because everything you gain in life will rot and fall apart.
And all that will be left of you, is what was in your heart."

Depends on whether you're looking for meaning or not ~

"Do not listen with the intent to reply,
but with the intent to understand."

Why do we bargain with the people earning the least in our country?
I just don't get it.
You're willing to pay a big amount at a branded store, being well aware that the price isn't worth the product... but you will still continue to tell the vegetable/fruit vendor and rickshaw driver to charge you five rupees less.
#ComeOn!

"There's a physical connection you can draw between how often you have to sharpen your pencil and how much work you've done."
- Caroline Weaver

A painkiller for an adult is like a toy to a crying baby #simile
The pain hasn't gone anywhere but your brain's been informed that it has apparently; the child's hiccups are still making him/her uneasy, but the sound and movement of the toy gets his/her mind off it and works pretty well as a distraction!

Introverts are introverts for a reason and they should never be forced to speak/share too much..
Because they are who they are for a reason!
It's just so sad that our hypocritical society isn't accepting of that nature
Why is everyone constantly stuck on attempting to change one another?
Why? Live and let live?

"It takes years as a woman to unlearn what you have been taught to be sorry for."

I am a firm believer of the fact that karma will find its way back to you (!)

"You can't change someone who doesn't see an issue in their actions."

One amongst many making a mountain out of a molehill about pretty much every thing
Sad emotions are okay around you as long as you're in your bubble
Zero empathy, let alone compassion
Money servants money servants money servants
~ stories of some...

I personally don't even like the term 'servant'
I mean, no one is your slave, so stop treating someone like one!
But ofcourse in our country, they wouldn't say domestic help/helpers... just like they don't say homemaker and instead choose to say housewife

Why is it that people don't give enough attention to the words being used by them!?

A child's thoughts must always be cultivated in the right manner
Of course, the 'right' depends on the parent defining it for the child

"I stopped explaining myself when I realised that people only understand from their level of perception."

In life, you'll come across all sorts of challenges...
Depends on you what you're willing to put at stake for each of them.
The journey will take you places
It'll make you say why me?
How hard is it to let it be and let one be and not hurt that person by saying something you already have, again and again?
Oh it hurts me sometimes to see how people behave with their siblings and children

You meet people, you judge them, you make rigid decisions
Is that how it's supposed to be?
Ofcourse not!

But if there's anything I've learned lately, it's that, whoever is not empathetic will never feel the pain. They are just like that. Detached and insensitive.

"There is something hugely civilised about allowing long pauses in a conversation. Very few people can stand that kind of silence."

The society we live in ~
No matter how the people are in a family, there is always differentiation done between siblings, between a son and a daughter
It amazes me how human beings are still unaware of karma's role in life

It's just so sad that the essence of life is lost around
Not many care about what is to be cared about
People just want to talk about people
It's all become about storing everything in your phone's gallery and not going back to see it
Gut feelings aren't believed by most of us
You're called crazy if you want to follow your heart, because ofcourse money and servants should be the ultimate goal
It's tragic to see most thoughts only going in this direction

"Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding."
- Bill Bullard

Financial independence isn't a concept that is encouraged

One of those days

I wish I could tell you that things get better, but they don't
You just get to know yourself better

If only your brain knew what to tell your heart when it's being absolutely ridiculous about a situation
One that doesn't even exist, but you love to believe that it will

When you're so used to seeing someone ill...
that you don't even realize that the person is actually still going through the same physical and mental pain, and suffering!
Just because you have become accustomed to it, does not give you the right to treat the other, like it's normal and okay. Because no, it's not normal and it's not okay.
People really need to get that!

You are a big fool if you think you wouldn't get hurt just because you've been good to people all throughout your life!

"The capacity to be alone is the capacity to love. It may look paradoxical to you, but it is not. It is an existential truth: only those people who are capable of being alone are capable of love, of sharing, of going into the deepest core of the other person - without possessing the other, without becoming dependent on the other, without reducing the other to a thing, and without becoming addicted to the other." - berlin-artparasites

You know what's worse?
When you can't f**king ignore a situation completely and be all I don't give a damn and I don't care, not just because you're supposed to be better than that at dealing with it all, but because you're expected to, and not only from one person, but a whole bunch
So, when you know it's going to affect a lot more than you can see infront of you
The relationship between two individuals will always remain fragile, unless there's unfailing faith and trust on the other
And no, that isn't just a rarity
The point is that it takes forever to get there
and one shit lie to make it fall.

"I like to eat truly, drink truly, kiss truly, chat with friends truly, fall in love truly; and when you put so much into all of those things, it's natural that you come out full of scars." - Sabina (berlin-artparasites)

When a person who's compromised and sacrificed all his/her life ~ is made to feel like it's an obligation now
I mean, come on
Why are we so screwed up as a species?

An individual will only choose to believe what he/she wants to believe, irrespective of what kind of a relationship a person may share with another, irrespective of how long it took to build it, and also irrespective of what the accused has been wrongly blamed for and has chosen not to explain oneself for the same
#HarshTruth

"Just overheard two kids getting into a heated argument about iOS and Android. At their age, I was arguing about Apsara pencils being better than Natraj."
- Akshar Pathak

So, this world is cruel
And yes, you'll be hurt
One has got to be prepared for consequences irrespective of the number of good deeds done.

Serendipity :)
[might have to pay some royalty for the usage of that word, since it's not my original thought. Haha.]

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you don't stop."

And maybe you're not supposed to talk to another human being at all, sometimes
You'd probably kill yourself in the process, but yeah, you're still expected to keep it all inside you and die with it
And please, I'm not talking about an individual's secret here AT ALL
You're not even supposed to share some thoughts with another human
Thoughts that have been piled up inside your system since a while
Because no, there is no guarantee that your trust will not be broken, no matter how faithful you are to the people in your life
When your trust is shaken, it's done
The part that actually sucks about this entire scenario, is that, you will be hurt
and you will get hurt, no matter what.

I had a dream I was dying
But I found nobody there
And if one last night is all that we've been given
Let's live it like we care
#Lyrics

Sucks
When people sitting across the world can get you better than the ones sitting next to you
The human mind never ceases to amaze me
It sucks how a person is made to go through so much of mental trauma because of absolute unnecessary bullshit
And what's worse is, the person causing this damage is unaware of it
Yes, I do remember mentioning this much much earlier in one of my posts
But since humans have a tendency to repeat their shitty acts, I'm just left with no choice but to repeat myself with my words here

When you've realized that you've already met the most selfish, the most immature individual on earth, who does not have the brain to even understand what degree of selfishness has been reached
When such humans are willing to stoop down to a level, that will jeopardize people's relationships

I hate how people overlook the fact that what they want and like is not the same as the person sitting next to them
No, I do not like what you like
My priorities are different
And when your priorities are different, you're willing to compromise on a lot more than you think!

It's so damn important to remember to not let any of it consume you
Not even your passion
Because you can't afford to lose yourself in the process of it all
Since that's the worst thing that can happen to you!

"It's always surprising to me how many young women think they have to be perfect. I rarely meet a young man who doesn't think he already is."

Sometimes, silence from the other person is better
The more you dig up the dirt
The more exposed you'd be
and the probability of you getting hurt might increase

"I'm trying to beef up my skills. There's still too much getting lost between my head and the page. There are a lot of emotions that are very close to each other. I want to be able to show the difference between nervous and tense. Sad and depressed. Thoughtful and wistful."
~ Words taken from another post of Humans of New York! #BecauseICanRelateVeryMuch

You'd always wish that things had turned out differently
Different than what you thought
Different than the expected
Different than how someone else had predicted it all

Why so insensitive?

So,
Old Bollywood songs playing on the radio actually are capable of getting the weariness off somehow :)

The worst part about being strong is that people choose to not ask if you're hurt.

"You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with."
~ Choose wisely!

Just because you know you can afford to take it out on some people, doesn't mean you do it every damn time you have to. There's a threshold of the mind, for that person, hearing you say it all in anger, too.

"You can't win a fight against someone's perception."

We are known for insensitivity, the human species

Words you read here and there, in another country/city, on a bus ride, or wherever else walking, and can only relate to one thing ~
Lawnmower
(A scene from the movie, Easy A
"I borrowed my neighbour's mower. I came right over."
Joey's Pizza
(Duh. Joey. Friends. Enough said.)
New Montgomery
(A Cinderella Story. Mrs. Montogomery. The evil stepmother.)
Coventry Motor Inn
(Duh again. The tiny city I lived in, once upon a time)

So many things that go unnoticed
and because humans don't prefer to think
No one ends up bothering

Casa Sanchez
~ a restaurant in L.A. which has the most awesome cheesecake ever!
It honestly reminded me of the scene from Friends when Chandler and Rachel hog on a whole cheesecake together!

Maturity
does not
have anything
to do with
Age
or
Time.
It comes with
experience,
exposure,
and willingness to think beyond the obvious.
Bas.

Uncertainty has its consequences
That feeling of not knowing, assuming some parts, leaving some to destiny, and knowing some
Somewhere along that process of reaching the finish line, there are consequences of your choices and decisions made, some that go unnoticed all together, and some that are visible clearly even later

"I can't adult today
Please don't make me adult"
*please picture a lazy pug lying around, while reading those two lines above*

When the temperature of your room is just about perfect for the dairy milk silk bar to be at its best

Ides of March
How that always brings back "Et tu Brute" in my head

Some songs will always brink back that one time in your life/one person/one situation/a group of people
No matter what you do, that memory ain't going anywhere

Rape. Rape. Rape.
What's beyond sad is that the world is getting used to hearing about it so often, that one is starting to overlook the seriousness of the damn cause.
"Rapists rape people, not outfits."
"Imagine if men were as disgusted with rape as they are with periods."

Patience
Nope, you just want the other person to have enough
Not yourself
#Irony

"It can be tough for a woman in the construction industry. I'm in charge of hiring the subcontractors - electricians, carpenters, roofers, plumbers. Those jobs are overwhelmingly male, so a lot of them don't like taking orders from a woman. They'll say 'yes' when I tell them to do something, but then they'll slack off when I'm not watching. So I've got to stay on point. I have to demonstrate that I know enough about all of their jobs to know when something isn't being done correctly."
- Words taken from another post of Humans of New York, because I can relate to this too much!

I miss being younger.
Life's become too serious. Reality, big decisions.
Makes me want escapism more.
I want the time when the matron used to say it's time to get up, and when we knew it's prep time, and when it's sports time, and then we're supposed to finish our freaking breakfast in 15 minutes.
I miss that precision.

"We're so busy watching out for what's just ahead of us

The words ~
right, wrong, happiness, satisfaction
~ are all too subjective to be narrowed down to one single definition
Everyone has their own and they're all different to some degree!

It's not hard to say sorry
It takes just a moment of realization to be apologetic
But ofcourse if you're okay with your ego taking over, I have no words for you
Sucks how people value their ego more than their relationship with an individual

Like I'd mentioned in the last post, about Alan Powell's inspiring words in that interview
One really needs to hear that for reassurance and be themselves instead of being told they're over-thinking or some crap of that sort!

Your lack of faith in me is disturbing.

Amusement central!

"If you don't believe in even the possibility of magic, you'll never find it."
#Castle

When you save a friend's ass and she didn't even have to say why, because you figured
That's the moment when you both laugh hard..and she gets back to what it was that she got caught for
Haha. I hadn't smiled like that since a while. That feeling of just knowing, and sharing an understanding like that with someone, that yes, I have your back and I always will. It's just really reassuring. And reassurance is just what you need sometimes these days.

"It's one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it's another thing to make a portrait of who they are."

Sometimes, you have to choose between what you can do and what you should do!
#SuchIsLife #Unpredictability #HumanBehaviour

When you see one losing the respect that he/she anyway never really had.. you see it happening. The other person's face tells you all of it. I'm not sure what to feel, sorry or indifferent. But it doesn't work like that. The defined choices that we keep in our heads in order to see things in black and white, doesn't work well, at least for those who have the ability to look beyond the obvious.

Hypocrisy at its best
#MentalityOfTheHumansAroundUs

The times when you're left with, 'I don't even know what to say'
When you're so damn hurt, that you prefer to not even talk about it this time
You realize you'd have to be fake for once in your life
You'd have to pretend to be someone you're not, in order for less bombardment of bizzare and nonsensical questions in your face

Sometimes, the people in your life make you question things you never thought you'd question

Whatever happened to entitlement to freedom of expression?

And for the love of God, you're not supposed to jump to conclusions by agreeing/disagreeing with every person's opinion that's shared with you. I mean, grow up?
No human is expected to agree with everybody's opinion. But respecting it is what's important.

"You will always be too much of something for someone: too big, too loud, too soft, too edgy. If you round out your edges, you lose your edge. Apologize for mistakes. Apologize for unintentionally hurting someone - profusely. But don't apologize for being who you are."
~ Have people forgotten this?
People need to be reminded of this from time to time!

When a person who's expressive all the time, but chooses to stay silent once in a while.. There is a reason behind it. You genuinely don't want to hurt the other person's sentiment and therefore, you talk when you're calmer.

I don't remember the last time I experienced so many emotions all in one day
It'll always be amusing how the human mind works and a mystery how it doesn't work at all in some gray areas
Not too sure whether I should say 'gray' really
#ThatDayWasANewLow

The point when you couldn't help but think what you'd do to make someone feel comfortable in an awkward situation where he/she doesn't know anybody in the group he/she has to stand amongst..
This is mainly because of your habit of making a conscious effort to go beyond just the obvious perspective of the other person
But, oops! Not everyone thinks like that, and not everyone wants to make that effort.
(Yes, we must try and look at the world like it's a beautiful place even when we see cruelty in different forms around us all the time.)

There's so much that's happened lately that I'm not sure where to start from, still

Why can't people learn to respect each other's opinions in general, instead of actually making the other person feel bad about their thoughts and how one processes their own?

It's so important to forget all your troubles for a little while. To stay in that bubble where everything seems okay, only until it's not.
It's important to watch your mother smile to old Hindi Bollywood music and understand the depth of momentary happiness.

"Life is a big fat gigantic stinking mess, that's the beauty of it, too."

Seriously, when will empathy go viral?
No one gives a shit about perspective
They're just absolutely okay with shoving their heads with what is told to them or for that matter, what has been known all along
Ugh, how much that pisses me off
Oblivion is one thing, and choosing to just go on about whatever it is that you've known so far, is another
You just don't have the freaking ability to make yourself want to know better
Man, learning is endless
Why on earth are so many people delusional that they've learned enough?
It makes me sad.

"So I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them."

And somehow, I still sense that being yourself isn't good enough. And you're not very welcomed.
Man, it's bloody sad that people don't encourage each other to be themselves.

'If I Stay'
The movie
The background music
Jamie Blackley's accent
The passion in two characters portrayed towards music
The hope
The promises made and kept
These are the kind of movies that take you into a bubble for a bit, and it's all different when you're in it.

What it says!

I think one's threshold of pain rises rather significantly when you undergo a situation you wish you hadn't dealt with all by yourself.

Why are we humans so insensitive man?
We don't give a tiny shit about the people around us. Forget making conscious efforts every now and then to actually help out a person even emotionally and be god damn perceptive about it!

Some people are the worst story tellers.
The worst part is when they're the only ones who make sure that their opinion is heard, you can't help but pull your hair apart in grief that the whole story has not just been poorly narrated to a bunch of people, but is full of baseless words.

What's the point of making the effort when you will be discouraged again? So much power in one person's hands deciding the future #Sucks

I sat in the shuttle and the first song that played was, Let Her Go
I mean, what timing!
The feeling of listening to a song you like/love, will always be different when you hear it in a moving vehicle.
#Warwick #OnCampusShuttleBus #OneLastTime #UK

So, the guaranteed way of hating a topic you genuinely liked to begin with: write 10,000 words on it. No kidding. And it sucks and is really unfair that there's so much power in one person's hands deciding the future. In short, your degree here pretty much depends on your luck of who your supervisor is. And that's it.

One can be so delusional looking at a really old picture saved in your phone, thinking, the relationship between the people in the photograph and the bond that existed at a point of time, is all still the same because that's how it's supposed to be.

Happiness is a manner of travelling

You've gotta love what words can do

When you get long replies from someone you're really, really fond of, and have so much respect for in your heart
Oh, that can make your day and leave the biggest smile on your face, along with urging you to write here!

When someone has more faith in you than you have in yourself
That can keep you going, forever...

When you read a post by a stranger and it says,
"Very often Bombay rickshaw walas just restore my faith in humanity"
You think to yourself how true that is!

Ever come across something you can't fix?
Like you just can't.

When you can almost sense the happiness on the person's face you're on a call with, and you managed to make him/her happy with a tiny surprise that you got couriered for him/her!
The way that, that can race your heart and make you smile, with the thought of how the effort was all worth it, is incomparable!

The good thing about a picture is that you were happy in it even if you aren't now. So that state of mind almost crawls back in for a second.

At some point, you get so strong for the person you've been there for
That somewhere along that road, you started to actually become emotionally detached
So you never let anyone/anything hurt you, in order to avoid feeling the pain that it could cause by being compassionate
And because you kinda got good at keeping at it, all by yourself, you forgot the need to feel that pain that demanded to be felt
That's when a close one reminds you that it's okay to let your guard down for a while, and be hurt
Because the world can take it and because he/she can take it.

I guess I'll always be a sucker for happy endings...
#BleedingLove

Sometimes it's not about whether it should be done or not
It's not about whether it's the right thing to do or not
It's about acknowledging the other person's sentiment behind it
He/she is happy for your choice and decision anyway
But if there is something sour in that person's expressions
It's only because there is a hidden sentiment behind it
Something he/she expects you to understand and pay attention to
That acknowledgement is enough to assure him/her, so that the respect this person does have somewhere in his/her heart for you, never varies

When you'd questioned someone sometime back:
In conversation with a three year old,
Me: "Who is your best friend?"
She: "My best friends are my mom and dad."
That moved me beyond words that I could possibly find to write here
And I considered myself lucky that day, to get a chance to talk to that little girl.

'A cake will bake faster if it's put outside instead of the oven dude!'
- My retarded friend struggling with Mumbai's heat.

I would love to work part time at a crisis intervention centre, you know

When in a conversation with a friend,
Me: "Can you chuck this please?"
She: "You chuck it, I won't..
I don't like to let go of things"
Me: "DUDE!"

A day trip to Oxford
Thirty eight colleges under the University umbrella
As per our cute tour guide, one of the colleges had an admission criteria where each student was given one word as a topic, and you had to write on that one word, for three hours

Not a corner of my mind

"Much as some of us fight it, our parents have a mystical hold over us,
the power to affect our thoughts and emotions the way only they can.
It's a bond that changes over time, but doesn't diminish,
even if they're half a world away, or in another world entirely.
It's a power we never fully understand.
We're left only to wonder that when our time comes,
what kind of hold will we have on our children?"

Why is the world such a bad place?
Where people always surprise you, with their actions and words
And they don't live up to their promises
They hurt you

"People always leave."
#OneTreeHill

The difference that you see in a person when the friendship is not the same
It's as good as a stranger saying hello
What's the point of such minimal friendship really?
I mean, come on, this is one relationship that's either really strong or doesn't exist at all
How on earth can there ever be a concept of little friendship with fakeness?
Man, who are people trying to fool? Because the world doesn't give a crap.

When you walk away from something for a reason you can't change in life,
you gotta know and decide what you'll do with this life with the altered choice now

When you've been hurt too many times, you become an ass
And dare anyone blame you for it.

It sucks to be doing things for people and being there for them, and getting their shit back in return

How can one be so selfish?
Doesn't that take courage too?
How does one gather that amount man?
Or does it just come naturally when one doesn't give a thought to others' perceptions as such?

Selflessness - synonym - parents.

"People change, feelings change. It doesn't mean that the love once shared wasn't true or real.
It simply means that sometimes when people grow, they grow apart."

When you know you won't be surprised with your sadness, it's better
At least you won't be hurt unknowingly in that case

Those times when you wish you didn't exist but you have one reason to hold on
And you owe your life to this person to stay

It's a good thing when your memory sucks in terms of recalling incidents,
coz that way you don't remember the bad ones as well

"There are moments in our lives when we find ourselves at a crossroads; afraid, confused, without a roadmap. The choices we make in those moments can define the rest of our days. Of course, when faced with the unknown, most of us prefer to turn around and go back. But once in a while people push on to something better. Something found just beyond the pain of going at it alone, and just beyond the bravery and courage it takes to let someone in, or to give someone a second chance. Something beyond the quiet persistence of a dream. Because it's only when you're tested, that you truly discover who you are. And it's only when you're tested, that you discover who you can be. The person you want to be does exist. Somewhere on the other side of hard work and faith and belief... and beyond the heartache and fear of what lies ahead."

Phases

"If your eyes could speak, what would they say?"
#TheBookThief

Why is there always a catch?
Why can't it be simple?
Simple enough for you to not look beyond the obvious reasons
The hidden answers that exist which make reality what it really is

When you had the best intentions
But it didn't work out anyway
When you just thought that everything is in place and it'll be fine
But it wasn't eventually
So you tell yourself once again that things are supposed to get better and so they will

When you've managed to restore the faith that it's all supposed to be for the best
And then when your faith is shaken, oh no, it becomes harder to join the pieces
As some fell too far away for you to find, identify and fix

Fear
Anger
Denial
Acceptance
The phases that one goes through
No one ends up feeling completely safe by the end of it
How one's innocence is poisoned and cultured with ridiculous expectation

To be able to work on something that's been a part of who you are, in order to make it better, you need to identify what it is first
The willingness to do something about it comes after that.
And obviously if one ends up staying oblivious to it for the rest of one's life
It would just be like noticing the trees from the window, and never being able to look at the glass

When you do something for someone who means something to you
You did it because you knew it was the right thing to do
It's not in that person's knowledge and he/she can never dig that deep to figure it all out by him/her self
And you wait for the right time to let the person know that you did it because you knew it would make him/her happy, and without your absence in that person's life, it wouldn't have been possible

The things one does, by hurting someone, but for their good, keeping the long term perspective in mind

Keeping a cigarette in your mouth and never lighting it
~ The metaphor that makes one think as to how you've put something in your mouth that can kill you, but you haven't given it the power to kill you
I wonder how many situations that can be applied to in life
#FaultInOurStars

It sucks that people don't make a conscious effort to look beyond the obvious

It's only hilarious when a person has not only taken you for granted but has crossed all limits
You become that person who gets to hear all the shit because you've been there taking it all in, up till now
Like seriously
The mistakes we commit for the gazillionth time
When people don't realize the promises they made

The irony that exists in life and how the universe plays funny

"Sometimes people don't understand the promises they're making when they make them."

When you've cut yourself off before
It's easier the next time you do it
Of course, the simple logic ~ it hurts less when you've become used to cutting off from the world, in one respect or another
Because the first time you did it, only you know what kinda courage it may have taken
Especially when you kinda thought you're not the kind of a person who could survive with a smile, post that
But it became so much better with time, that sometimes, it seems like the best thing to do
Not just to clear your head or whatever, but sure as hell, for reasons you know you'd manage to recollect

The Book Thief
Winter's Tale
Fault In Our Stars

"A world full of only easy choices would enslave us to reasons."

When your efforts won't mean anything and you know it
because the imaginary wall between you and another individual is colossal and it would take a lot more than just breaking it down somehow

"When all else fails, call Dad."

People will always judge you. Don't let their judgments get in the way of your perspective.
They'll be judging anyway.

It may be wrong to say that your education doesn't define you. But it sure as hell is not the only thing that defines you.

It's not about what you do, it's about who you are.

"I've come to the conclusion that if having things turn out the way you wanted them to is a measure of a successful life, then some would say I'm a failure. The important thing is to not be bitter over life's disappointments. Learn to let go of the past. And recognize that every day won't be sunny, and when you find yourself lost in the darkness and despair, remember it's only in the black of night you see the stars. And those stars will lead you back home. So don't be afraid to make mistakes, to stumble and fall, cause most of the time, the greatest rewards come from doing the things that scare you the most. Maybe you'll get everything you wish for. Maybe you'll get more than you ever could have imagined. Who knows where life will take you. The road is long and in the end, the journey is the destination."

Not that lost.

"Be hurt. I can take it, the world can take it."
- really the right thing to hear when you are?
For a moment I was like, wow. But, not so much when you can't get your mind off, of what it was that's gotten on your mind. It's like bacteria. It's only multiplying even when your efforts were all to make it stop/shut down and not just put it to sleep.

When you didn't want the person to say the words back to you.
You just wanted the person to accept it. That is all.
Acceptance is the most important thing (as I've mentioned earlier). Coming to terms with it.
But, okay.

Perspective. Perception. Point of view. Inference. Interpretation. Power of the mind.
#blah

And Diwali happened and I wasn't home for the first time.
Yes, you miss home the most during this one festive season.

Do not get too affected by things, situations, people. It never helps. Never.
Don't stop working on how much it got to you. Or how much you let it get to you.

When you end up doing things you've never done before
Not in terms of the adventure you'd assumed you would (you haven't forgotten your bucket list just yet)
But doing things in terms of being there. For people.

#Haha!

The additional costs in life that we tend to overlook more than often!!
(this is an interesting observation and I do intend to elaborate on it soon)

A fire alarm drill at seven in the morning is one of the worst things ever,
when you know you have a lecture at nine and had to wake up in half an hour anyway!
The value of five minutes is best understood during these early morning hours,
when you had to either give up your sleep, or run to be punctual for a class,
because you did sleep for those five minutes anyway, that were not extra any more then!

Finding out you hadn't replied to comments on your posts ~ *happily surprised*

The generation gap and the variance in the chain of thought on the same subject
The difference in the want to understand
Absolutely overlooking what matters too much to the other person
Rigidity in the mindset with negligible willingness to widen it really
Or maybe a bit for the world but less than zero percent for yourself

When you see a goose hurt in the garden right outside your building, standing in the rain, and barely managing to move, you call up the student reception to ask for help (and it was a Saturday) and you get the worst reply of all time. You call up security and you're told some crap about how you shouldn't mess with the balance of life and nature.
You manage to go down with another flatmate of yours to see what can be done (keeping in mind that the bird will, in most probability, move away, as soon as we get to him/her)
And even though that's exactly what had happened, once again the only ointment that had popped in my head was boroline, but he/she had, had a bone injury and we knew we couldn't do anything
While we felt helpless and talked to each other about it, while watching out on him/her for a bit,
I realized that by the evening, the bird's friends had come to his/her rescue! (no kidding)
We're all aware that geese always tend to move together and this one had been alone all day
But the day did get better for him/her after all, and so it did for me :)

Mixed to the extent that I can't decipher the ingredients!

When you can't seem to keep track of all that's going on in your life
No kidding!
#AlmostAMonth #WarwickTimes
#TooMuchInTooManyPieces

When there are situations we've all imagined in our heads, situations we've totally wanted to be in..
but it's when you're really there, you go blank and are not quite sure if you'd be able to be yourself at that moment of rush and risk.. and maybe the evolved you, manages to be somewhat yourself also.. but there is a constant thought in your subconscious kinda pulling you back for no apparent reason
Either ways, don't regret it. I don't :)

When it's not any kinda fear but more like a debt
Guilt that's been cooked up in your head but doesn't have any basis to exist really
The unpredictable factor in life that leaves us all with our jaws dropped after all

When you're being forced to go about a few things in a way you didn't have in mind for yourself and for the other person

When things turn out like you least expected them to
But all in a positive way :)

When you know you have a cold and it's only getting worse, and you should probably sleep.. But no, you end up listening to Alesso tracks you hadn't heard in a while and of course, sleep vanished

When the experience that's built up with incidents that took place in a period of about three weeks
has managed to give you a relatively good insight over all..

I don't get why people are such cowards
You don't have it in you to say things clearly to someone who's been a part of your life for a significant period of time? How weird can you be? I hate incomplete conversations and then one has to do the icing of the cake by leaving you with assumptions for the rest of your life

That moment when you don't get your own chain of thought!

Time is flying and it's almost here
It's starting to hit me now.. that things are going to change
and for once, I can't wait for that to happen!
~ Well, that was written a while ago. I've been here since three weeks now and it's been great.
I guess it is true when they say, it's better when you haven't formed that picture in your head, coz then, you'll always like it, no matter what it is.

UK. Warwick. Campus life. University. So much keeps going on. Change. Happiness.
New people. Different mindsets. Lack of home food. Independence on another level.
Too much walking.. seriously! Swimming. In a pool after four years with some swimmers who swim like sharks.. again, not kidding!
Realizations. The unpredictable weather.

And blah (not in the gibberish way). Haha. Will continue this! :)

~

Why do people give opinions on a subject they don't have any freaking knowledge about?
WHY?
Somebody explain that to me, please!
Did I ask for your opinion?
No, I didn't.
Have you done any study whatsoever on the subject you're jabbering about incessantly?
Clearly, you haven't.

When there is so much effort that's required from one person to work out a relationship (any kind!)
even in terms of normal communication.. It shouldn't have to be hard at all. You weren't born to please the other person.. And for that matter, if it is hard, is it really worth it? (Don't be kidding yourself)

I don't get it. I just don't get it. You talk before you think. You're bloody certain of things you don't have any kinda knowledge about. You will present your views as if you're the master and the others are meant to bow to your words. You do not understand (forget believing) the concept of cleaning the mess after a presentation of any sort. You lack the freaking ability to look beyond just your own perspective. You take forever to gather some logic and reasoning from the occurrence of a situation. You talk in a repulsive tone. You don't have a drop of keenness to learn anything new whatsoever. Since when did humans become like that?

Hope but don't expect.
Nope, it's not the same thing :)

The trouble with reality is, it troubles.

When you end up spending hours on a thought that crossed your mind once
You know it for yourself that assumptions are the worst things ever, but no, you refuse to think rationally at that one point when that stupid thought has managed to take over all the others pondering in your head
You know it that it's as tiny as it can get, and it would probably be forgotten by the other person within a few minutes from the point of time of its occurrence, but because you have the stupid habit of letting things get to you, you try to take your mind off it.. But, oops. Ofourse you don't succeed
It's funny how the human brain functions, really.

The evidence in reality
The messages to be inferred

When you don't know what to pen down and what not to.

When you're asked about a situation or your friendship with someone you really did think would remain your friend.. but you don't know if he/she really is

I've had some conversations with a good number of people where they're contradicting themselves in the very next statement but they don't get it
I mean, first of all, how do you not even seem to realise that?

When you see a baby pigeon really, really hurt on his/her (I'm guessing her) head, alone and scared, and manage to put some boroline (the only ointment that popped in my head) on his/her head somehow...
It kinda added to my day :)

Inflation that's taking place with the rate at which the rupee has been depreciating!!!

And then there's
the awesome feeling of getting an offer from Warwick Business School :D

Money
Who understands the value of it and who doesn't?
In the true real sense of it
I'm not even talking about the ability to distinguish between cost and worth at this moment
But seriously, there is irony when it comes to real life situations and people you think you know to an extent don't understand shit
But wait, how do you have it in you to spend all that's not yours to spend?
How? Just how can one be like that?

Bits, pieces and more

Opinions
are never right or wrong (as I may have even mentioned here earlier)
But what doesn't fail to amuse me is the level of variation in them on the same subject!
The difference in the intensities of the opinions leading to depths headed in two different directions,
on one subject!
Irrespective of looking from the other person's perspective, there is a big chance you're still not close to his/her chain of thought
It's not about not being able to really put yourself in his/her shoes any more, you already did that bit (if at all you did), it's about not being able to think beyond it
Maybe there is a possibility, that the other person is simply unable to express the unsaid words in any other form as well
And of course, silence is misinterpreted. More than the expected number of the times.
But then again, that's the beauty of human evaluation I guess

At the end of it all, it does come down to how YOU look at it.

The worst part is when we forget things
A crying baby on a flight
Everyone would turn back and stare at the parent and pass all the possible comments capable of crossing one's mind, as to why the parent can't keep the child, freaking quiet!
But I doubt the probability being high, of people thinking beyond
Beyond the perspectives of the parent
Beyond the ideology of taking care of a child
Beyond the faults of nobody

The difference between the reel and the real world even in terms of the one we're living in!
Not just the one in Bollywood
The picture is always something else than the one being shown to us

Truly inspiring in the real sense of it
Someone who's passion for life is a definition of his own
But a question that I never got to ask him...
How can he possibly keep at it ALL the time being humane?
Everyone has ups and downs in life.. The extreme high and low moments when you give up at a point without another thought
My question isn't how he hasn't/didn't give up
My question is, how has it really been possible to keep at it? What were the things he managed to remind himself of, that kept him going incessantly?

Faith.. is it?

I don't know what it is
If it's people's words that affect your opinion and decisions
Or the lyrics of a song
Or a similar situation handled earlier
Or something you happened to witness and could relate to it

Why? Why does it all have to be so hard?
"It eats me up alive" - does that sentence even make sense when whatever it is/was, has already managed to get out of your system?

I miss
so much
of the past
that I don't know how to go about it now

I miss
the comfort
the hatred

A part of me wants some of it so badly
The other part just doesn't wanna be the risk taker any longer

I hate how things become when we grow up
Why do we?

I know, I know.. it's the problems we've created in our heads
Problems that don't even exist really
BUT
In our heads, they do naa

I'm just not ready to deal with something again, something I've already dealt with, in the past
But if it is the power of the mind that has everything in its control, then why the thoughts that you do not want to keep in/around your head, keep coming back?
I'm not saying you're fighting it any longer
No, you're not, you dealt with it, and it did come to peace and calm
But it's like medical surge
It seemed all flowers and rainbows for a bit until you're falling back into something you've just managed to get out from

When you lose things
Like the lines you'd penned down in a note on your phone and it just vanished.
Yeah, yeah, that happens
But, it was a long one, and you'd really elaborated on some of your thoughts, you did think you'd get back to

When the universe is still conspiring and you don't let it get it to you
It affects you a little, each time there's a knock at the door you shut a while ago, invariably anyway

There should be more than one Sunday in a week!
Period.

A person told me sometime back,
for a child, love will always be conditional
There are conditions attached to that love towards the parent
But for a parent,
love will always be unconditional towards any of their children

Sometimes, words fail

When you're on a road that wasn't the one you had in mind for the journey, but you took it anyway
You're also in a position to kinda predict the latter half of the road considering you're half way through it already...
But you're still in no position to say shit about the destination
So obviously, that leaves me with, "What for?!"

One can only keep at all of it for a certain period of time
It doesn't become about giving up or priorities after that. It only makes you question yourself once again for the reason of having held on to something for this long to begin with!

Another scenario is when people make it harder, when they can't stop being someone they're not or can't stop rubbing things in your face for no apparent reason at all

One thought that'll probably never stop crossing my mind:
Doesn't it take more effort and thought to be someone else? Someone you're not? Fake? Does it not?
I fail to understand. Each time I try to, I fail to understand how it's easier to be someone you're not infront of the world. So much of the show. Energy. BLAH.

Selfishness
How can you have so much of it? How?
You wouldn't care about the people around you out of whom at least one matters? And the others matter to that one!? You wouldn't care...
What I wonder is, if one has always been like this or something in your life got you to become who you are today
When you aren't in a position to question this person.. Or you wouldn't because you probably can't put it across well.. But, wow
That amount of selfishness
The world is so different than what it seems to be after all
It all is
The people you knew may become the people you know again
And ofcourse we all have the people who we once knew

When you wanted to have cooked wai-wai, but because you are the laziest person you know..
you end up with baked lays plus pizza topping!

Crisp much?

So,
When your day has turned out to be nowhere close to what you'd thought it'd be like
But of course, when has the picture in the head actually turned out to be the same?

When it's all so uncertain around you, that at one point, you feel handicapped and don't know what to do, think or feel about it all

And then to top it all, your phone has no signal all of a sudden for no explicable reason
Like it just doesn't have network and you try for a bit, but you give up too fast, even if it's just about your phone
That's because the day feels long but also flew
And then you end up telling yourself,
Sometimes, things aren't supposed to happen after all!
I don't know if too many things happen to surprise me lately.. But they sure amuse me.

Dear Delhi,
Learn something from Mumbai. Something.
Sincerely,
The city that never sleeps.

It feels nice when certain people/strangers figure out things about you faster than people who've known you, did!

Are you supposed to stop living because it's not safe around?
- the obvious question of the hour

When everyone's life seems like a ride
One has to, just has to spend time in this city to believe what it's like here!

And why would you do something for the world again? I mean, especially when you say that you're doing it for yourself and that you want to, but you forget where you started off with that chain of thought. Didn't you?
When we forget the basis of what it is that's got us where we are.
To remind ourselves of the basis is imperative.

"It's one of those things people say: you can't move on until you've let go of the past. Letting go is the easy part. It's the moving on that's painful. So sometimes we fight it, trying to keep things the same. Things can't stay the same though. At some point you just have to let go, move on. Because no matter how painful it is, it's the only way we grow."

Back!

Destiny, is it?

When you learn to overlook the negatives because you have to!

The feeling of satisfaction that you just get when you're home.
And nope, I am not home right now.

You can never know what goes on in a person's life each day of his/her life wholly even if this person is a family member or your closest friend or spends his/her whole day with you..
You never know what goes on in one's head really. The events. The people he/she met, who made/messed up the day. The things one needed and not like he/she couldn't get but because it didn't feel right. When you're in different situations with different people around you, it makes you think of whether you would've gone about it the same way otherwise or not.

When a dog takes your bad mood away and you turn out to be in the exact opposite mood! What animals do for you without you having to ask for any of it at all. But it shouldn't come as a surprise.. Us humans have calculations of debits and credits towards each other and 'unconditional' is a rare term understood and used today.

A song you repetitively listen to, only to find an article that relates to it all the more!

When it's your really, really close friend's birthday and you have to wake her up early the next morning so she doesn't miss her flight home! Haha. And you put an alarm to do that :)

I love my laptop's keypad :D

When you're pepped for no apparent reason.

Mumbai is getting delayed and is not on schedule, but, hopefully, this time shall fly..
Yes, at the same time, it's actually not been bad.

The importance of people around you.

When you see one noticing things happening to someone, but when others, equally important, went through the same, then where on earth was your observation?

Almost

The city is growing on me.
I'd never imagined my life here, to be full of such spontaneous plans and never thought it would leave me quite blank by the end of the day at the same time!

Different episodes of life.
New people. Common names capable of uprooting thoughts from the past.
Good times. Trance music. Different edited versions of the same track.
Surprises. New stuff you never expected. Short, short home visits.
School friends. Lifetime friends. Meeting people after years. When you didn't want time to pass but it flew like it always does.
And the work life that goes on for six days of a week and the one day you get off, never seems enough with work given even from 'work'! #Didn'tKnow #Hadn'tExpected #Wasn'tPrepared

The uncertainty.
